The North Gratiot Cruise Foundation was established over a decade ago as a subsidiary of the Gratiot Avenue Chamber of Commerce. The cruise is a one-day celebration of automobile history that attracts unique vehicles of all makes and models and a crowd of over a thousand people to enjoy the parade as well as live music, food vendors, and family events. Inspired by the Woodward Dream Cruise, this event spans Gratiot from Hall Road to 23 Mile in Chesterfield. In it's existence, the organization has raised over $60,000 for community groups.
The North Gratiot Cruise Foundation contacted Joyful Website Design (JWD) unable to edit their previous site and needing something made in a pinch. JWD was able to create the website over the course of a weekend, writing new copy and creating fresh content, including many functional necessities like registration and sponsor payment form, both online and in hardcopy. The design uses a bold and vibrant color palate to excite the eye and heighten the vibrancy of the event. The menu and font design are modern and sleek, like the cars highlighted throughout the site. JWD utilized a detailed background image of car brands that establish a respect for the nature and specificity of the event, yet the copy is conversational, accessible, and inviting to all community members. The quick turn-around of the website made it an immediate tool to use on the cruise's social media feed in a campaign that was organized and implemented by JWD.
